Berda L. Fetters, age 61, of Jonesboro, passed away Thursday, April 15, 2021.
FROM DAUGHTER, CHRISTI SMITH:
She was a mom, a daughter, a sister, an aunt, a grandma, a caretaker, a healer, a way maker miracle worker. She must’ve moonlighted as a magician because I’ll never understand or be able to comprehend how she was able to become so strong when most would have given in long ago. She had the kind of soul you only had to meet once to love forever. She never met a stranger and became a great friend to so many.
To me she was all of that and so much more. She was my ROCK, my counselor, my vault, my shoulder, and my truth seeker bc if I was asking...that’s what she was telling. She was also my best friend and my favorite teacher. She taught me how to love with everything I am, to fight with everything I’ve got, and to always be myself because she was proud of who I’d become...the mother she’d taught me how to be. To me that was the greatest compliment any mom could hear. She said she loved being a mom, but nothing compared to the title she wore of nanny. Jacob and Lucas were nannies heart, and she loved them to the moon and back and all the stars. So basically even more than fishing and coco cola!
If you know her you know how stubborn, and hard headed she was. She never asked for help unless she knew there was no other way, and rest assured her pride had made her attempt every possible one she could try before you even knew she needed help...yet she was the first one there to offer it always. She had the strength of a warrior and the soul of an angel. She made a world that made no sense...somehow make sense once again. In the sound of her voice... the wisdom of truth it told, the light of love you saw in those beautiful blue eyes, and the security you felt in her hugs...she was so much more than a title she was the GLUE.
I’ve loved you since the first time I opened my eyes and saw you...keep your eyes on us and I promise you we will be ok down here...you raised us that way. Rest now mama you’ve earned it.
